Summer in the Yukon is something to behold. The glistening midnight sun and fresh air gives us long days and boosts of energy. While we may be known for our cold temperatures in the North, summers are warm and we have many days when a refreshing lake dip feels simply heavenly.
Our summer programs at Shakat Tun are designed for travellers who enjoy spending time in the great outdoors, connecting with nature and learning about First Nations culture. We are excited to host you on our traditional territory!
All of our summer packages include:
Included: Transfer from “Allenville” to Shakat Tun Wilderness Camp – Approximately 10-minute drive with two creek crossings. Accommodation in private cabin (double occupancy), three meals a day, complimentary refreshments and snacks daily, daily evening campfire with storytelling.
Not included: transportation to/from “Allenville”, gratuities, items of a personal nature. Shakat Tun Wilderness Camp is an alcohol free camp. Alcohol is not a part of our culture.
Independent Traveller Packages
2 nights / 3 days | based on double occupancy
Day One: Guests generally arrive after 2pm in the summer months and park their vehicles safely in “Allenville”, our family homestead 10 minutes from our camp. We’ll transfer you and your gear to camp where you’ll check into your cabin, before joining us for an orientation with complimentary refreshments and snacks. There will be free time before dinner for you to explore the camp and familiarize yourself with your surroundings. Following dinner in the lodge, you may want to join a hike back to Emerald Lake. This crystal clear, private lake is tucked away behind our camp. This evening we’ll have a campfire and share stories.
Day Two: After breakfast we’ll get you involved in some cultural activities (see below for activity choices) and perhaps some local sightseeing or flightseeing. We’ll either take lunch on our excursion or have it at the camp. Before dinner, you’ll have some free time to relax, play a game or take in the incredible view of Sheep Mountain from your cabin. After dinner you may want to take a short walk back to Emerald Lake or go for a swim. This evening we’ll share stories from the day around the campfire before you return to your cabin feeling contented and renewed.
Day Three: On your final morning, we’ll have breakfast together before saying goodbye and wishing you well on the rest of your journey.
